Continuing the tradition of community art on site at Corinbank, the festival is proud to announce the first “Crafternoon” to be held from 10.00 to 4.00, 21 January 2012 at the Cook Community Hub.
Ever since Corinbank first burst on to the scene in 2008, the art of the community has been celebrated on site. This year, Corinbank is throwing open its doors during this school holiday period for those artisans of the Canberra community to join us in creating sustainable art to delight the eye and amaze the senses.
Saturday’s session will produce five different types of site art, the paper cranes synonymous with the festival, painted plastic bottle flowers, TP roll sculptures, papier mache planets and decorated face masks.
“For me, it’s one of the great joys of the festival,” says Ms Maria Koulouris, Visual Arts Manager for Corinbank. “Wandering through the festival, hearing great music and seeing the community art catching the eye of festival patrons is a real thrill.”
The Crafternoon will run from 10 am to 4pm and is broken into two sessions running 10 – 1 and 1- 4, held at LEAD offices at the Cook Community Hub. Tea and coffee will be provided. The venue allows for a maximum of 20 people per session so get in quick!
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
Bookings for the Crafternoons should be made by emailing: visualarts@corinbank.com
