Reception: The Reception Team is, together with our contracted security guards, responsible for access control into the festival and vehicle movements within the site.  Located mostly at the main gate, their role is to welcome people with a smile while checking (and if there are any left, selling) tickets and/or accreditation as well as ensuring that patrons do not bring alcohol, fireworks, glass and pets and other contraband onto the festival site.

Some team members will also operate on foot at key points of the site (eg roadways, intersections and car parks) showing people where to park their cars. Team members will be issued with high visibility safety vests, torches and other equipment as necessary.

The Reception Team is busiest on the Friday, the first day of the festival, when most patrons, artists, volunteers and other participants arrive, and as a result all team members will need to be available to complete at least one shift on that day. The team is also busy for a few hours on Sunday evening at the end of the festival when most of the remaining patrons all try to leave at once.

Comms/Rangers: The Comms/Rangers Team is responsible for the smooth running of the festival, monitoring the entire show, responding to challenges and directing efforts to fix problems as they might arise.  Comms shifts are based in the Corinbank control room where, under the directions of the on-duty warden, the team operates our communications arrangements, including the radio network and telephones, and maintains the operations log.

Ranger shifts operate on foot, roaming across the festival site, enjoying the vibe and acting as the eyes and eyes of the control room. They may be dispatched like superheros to assist patrons or deal with maintenance or other problems not requiring our sparkies or contracted security guards. Rangers are issued two-way radios, and usually work in pairs, with shifts operating 24/7 during the festival period.

Previous Corinbank experience is preferred for this role.

Resource Recovery: The Resource Recovery Rats are the invaluable hardworking greenies of Corinbank who help keep the site looking brilliant.  The Rats operate across the festival site and are responsible for managing waste, composting and recycling for the event.

Most of this work involves replacing full wheelie bins with empty ones, and taking the full bins to the composting and recycling point for emptying.  While there is a separate Poo Crew team responsible for emptying the Port-a-loo dunnies, the Waste Management Team may be called upon to delivery toilet paper and monitor the general cleanliness of the loos.

The role involves some driving and lifting and because it isn’t the cleanest at Corinbank, attracts extra Corinteer privileges.

Chai Angels:  The Chai Angels are responsible for creating the atmosphere in the relaxed, chilled-out Chai Tent. This is possibly the most awesome volunteer job that there is as you get to hang out in the chilled-out chai tent, making people happy by preparing and serving amazing chai and mulled wine and giving away lots of smiles! The Chai tent operates from late morning to late into the night.

Bar Staff: The Bar Staff, some call them our ‘Boozentologists’, operate the two onsite bars near the Billy Billy Stage and the Gibraltar Grove Stage where they can watch and listen to the entertainment while doing their bit for the festival.  The bars will serve a range of beers and wine and will operate late into each night of the festival.  Volunteers for the bar should hold a valid Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certification

CorinStore:   The CorinStore team operates the merchandise tent.  Their role is selling stuff like Corinbank clothing and merchandise, artist CDs and bar tickets as well as operating the information desk and keeping track of lost and found. The tent is located very close to the main Billy Billy Stage and offers on-duty volunteers an awesome opportunity to help out while enjoying the entertainment. Previous retail experience, including EFTPOS operations, is preferred.

Production Management: The Production Management Team is responsible for the light and sound operation of the main stage. The Canberra Musicians Club will look after the Gibraltar Grove Stage. Previous relevant experience is essential.

Artist Minders: The Artist Minders look after backstage and VIP hospitality. They are our schmoozers, responsible for ensuring that the artists who patrons come to see are kept happy. They are responsible for manning the backstage gate and ensuring that only those with access are able to go backstage, providing food and beverages to the artists, meeting artists on arrival, preparing food as required and cleaning up the backstage area.

Transport: The Transport Team provides the drivers and chauffeurs who transport the artists from the airport or town to the festival site. They are also responsible for the Corinbus which will transport patrons between Canberra and the festival site.

Clancy’s Overflow: The Clancy’s Overflow Team is our reserve of volunteers to cover breaks/illness/team shortages. The team is based at Voli Central, the main building on site near the Main Stage, and is responsible for looking after the rest of the volunteers with hugs, shoulder rubs and moral support.

They also issue accreditation passes and Crew T-shirts and look after lost property and children. Clancy’s Overflow is at its busiest on Friday and needs to be operational by Friday morning before the arrival of most volunteers.

Catering: The Catering Team is responsible for two special Corinbank food experiences.  Each day of the festival they operate the Corinbank Kitchen adjacent to the Gibraltar Grove bar, serving a range of healthy meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily to volunteers, artists and patrons.

The Kitchen will also distribute copies of the free Corinbank Slow Food Cookbook and a variety of educational materials from community and government groups promoting healthy eating and sustainable food production.

In addition, on Saturday afternoon and evening the Catering Team supports the renowned Slow Food Kitchen and Banquet, serving local, organic foods, wine and boutique beers in a three-course meal prepared by local Chef. While not necessary, prior catering and hospitality experience is welcomed for this role.

Sparkies: The Sparky Team is our team of professional electricians responsible for all the electrical wiring, lights, and generator operations on the site. The sparkies will be busy from before the start of the festival setting up all the electrical systems and, during the festival, making sure that the power stays on. Relevant trade qualifications are essential.

Other: There are a range of other, often quite specific volunteer roles during the festival, mostly around the management or marketing of the event. Examples include coordinating the arrival and set up of stallholders, vendors and creative campers on site, the production of accreditation passes, and the CorinClinic (first aid or medical qualifications essential).
